What Patients Say
“Dr Joshua Adedokun was originally treating me for a herniated right-side disc. The problem was I was having so much left side pain. I had tried so much physio, and yet I was still in so much pain. Dr Adedokun was kind, patient and listened to what all my symptoms were. After his recommendation I swapped physios.
Even though I asked Dr Adedokun if it would be appropriate for me to have a steroid injection to improve my symptoms, he advised against it as it could escalate the problem further.
After more pelvic and bowel related symptoms, Dr Adedokun suggested I see another specialist in case I had other underlying problems. My second physio after another 3 months’ worth of treatment said the same thing.
I just wanted to thank you to Dr Adedokun for convincing me not to try a steroid injection or stronger painkillers, because it ended up that after having an MRI scan on my pelvis and then laparoscopy surgery – they found severe endometriosis, and some of the tissue had to be removed off my nerves in the rectal area. The surgeon said it would explain why I found walking it water so hard and nerve triggering. Also, because I have a womb that tilts to the left, my bowels and bladder were really tightly compact in that area.
I’m to see my doctor in 6 weeks as I am now recovering from that surgery, but it explains a lot of the inflammation and pelvic and glute pain I was getting. They have found two small fibroids also and one large one that’s difficult to get to at the back of my cervix which still may cause me problems, but that’s the next step on whether I would like that to be removed with surgery and what the consequences would be.
Thank you to Dr Adeokun for being so patient and understanding during this whole process. It’s terrifying experiencing nerve pain, especially when it is debilitating and getting in the way of normal activities such as sitting and walking. Hopefully now I’m on the right journey with another diagnosis, and hopefully my right side with the herniated disc doesn’t cause any issues and maybe finally shrinks back, since the pain of that problem seemed to be resolved, I hope it stays that way.
I hope now after I’m able to start having specific post-surgery pelvic physiotherapy to strengthen those areas again after so much inflammation, as it’s been about a year since sitting became so difficult.
A huge thank you for the care I received whilst going through uncertain times. I really appreciate all the advice that was given and especially not to take a higher drug dose as I now know it would have made things so much worse.”
“I have seen Dr Adedokun for two appointments and my experience has been that he has an extremely skilled reservoir of experience and knowledge, so I speak very highly of him. Dr Adedokun arranged an MRI as my experience was of pain and lessening mobility impacting my life. This had previously been diagnosed as fibromyalgia by my GP, but the continuous nature of it meant I was left unable to do my usual activities and nothing was stopping the downward trend. I was relieved when Dr Adedokun carefully assessed what I told him and arranged an MRI for eliminatory purposes. This was helpful as it highlighted herniated spinal discs and one or two other issues. Now I know what is wrong, I am able to exercise and align appropriate to this rather than at times unhelpfully forcing things because of thinking it was an issue of the mind. This has already improved everything slightly. Importantly, I felt I had a chance to be heard, and a clear path of action has been explained to me with the necessary arrangements implemented. As an interim measure I have been given a prescription for pain relief. Everything that could be done was happening. Whilst I have been under Dr Adedokun’s care everything has been prompt, clear and any treatment arranged quickly so I know this is very fortunate, and I do appreciate it. At the same time, I am clear about any limitations or side-effects of treatment so that I can make informed decisions and be realistic. I have needed at times to contact Dr Adedokun’s secretary, Mrs Christine Weston, and nothing has been too much trouble for her. They clearly work so well as a team, and she has immediately clarified things for me on the couple of occasions I have needed it. Many thanks to both!”

“For well over a year, I had been suffering with the most debilitating and painful back which showed utter contempt for all the usual pain killers, gels, etc. The local hospital diagnosed arthritis, but sadly no cure, except for the usual pain killers and gels, As I was leaving the hospital, a nurse suggested pain management but the NHS waiting time was over 6 months. Having discussed the problem with my husband, it was agreed to have a ‘private’ consultation to see if the pain could be eased. We chose The Beardwood Hospital and were directed to Dr Joshua Adedokun, and appointment was made only 7 days later. Within a couple of minutes, he suggested the problem was the spine which could be ‘cured’ with some injections. He explained that the procedure had been undertaken many times and he was confident that it could work for me. It would require an MRI scan to determine precisely where the injections should be made. Within a matter of two weeks, I had my scan and then a couple of weeks later the procedure was carried out. Less than 24 hours later, the pain had disappeared and gone completely the following day – it truly is a miracle! Dr Adedokun has a very reassuring gentle manner and undoubtedly highly skilled in his particular field.”
